Ready to cleanse, but have a few questions? Here you will find answers to the common questions asked to Radiant Mama. Please keep in mind that we are not doctors. Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Dani (B.S., Wellness Science) does have a ton of experience and can give a great deal of expert advice, but do not replace this with any instructions provided by your doctor. If you have compromised health, then please consult your physician before embarking on a cleanse. 

 

WHAT’S A JUICE CLEANSE? 

 

At Radiant Mama, we like to think of a Juice Cleanse as more as a Juice Feast because you are nourishing your body with loads of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. You are giving your body all of the dietary resources it needs, but in the form of organic, cold-pressed fruit, and vegetable juice.  Radiant Mama Juice Feasts are recommended to last 1 - 3 days, but as discussed below can last for much longer. During this time, you are giving your digestive system and filtering organs a break from digesting and filtering heavy proteins, fats, and other components of your normal diet. 

 

After a Juice Feast, you should feel full of energy, refreshed and focused. You may also notice improved sleep and that you crave healthier foods. 

 

WHY SHOULD I CLEANSE? 

 

You may be interested in doing a juice cleanse for a variety of reasons. A popular reason is to kick start a new diet or exercise routine. Others want to reduce inflammation or are seeking help with an unhealthy digestive tract. By doing a Juice Feast, you will see results and will see them fast! 

 

People report enhanced weight management, feeling more clear-minded and energetic almost immediately upon starting a juice cleanse. To maintain these amazing effects, you must sustain a healthy diet and lifestyle, so we highly recommend having a plan and sticking to it for the best results. Doing a juice cleanse is like hitting the reset button that can propel you to healthier habits and a more radiant you! 

 

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO A JUICE CLEANSE?  

 

This depends on you! If you have completed a cleanse and loved the feeling, you might find that you want to come back for more. Some people enjoy cleansing one day per week, or three days per month, or for an entire week a few times per year. We are happy to talk to you about your goals and help you figure out the best cleansing routine for you.  

 

A juice cleanse is an opportunity to allow your body to clean out and is kind of like giving your car a tune-up - by the end of it, your digestion and body should function better and more smoothly. 

 

HOW DO I START A JUICE CLEANSE? 

 

  1. Choose your package. Radiant Mama has assembled 2 packaged Juice Feasts. The primary juices are the same with the drink you choose to kick start your day being different. These packages are guidelines, and you are welcome to customize your package that best suits your body and your health goals. 

 

  1. Choose how long you want to cleanse. The most common juice length times are 1,3,5, 7, and 10 days. Choose the duration understanding that the first three days  are always the most “challenging,” and once you’ve gotten past the first 3, the rest is smooth sailing. 

 

  1. Place your order. You can place your order online at our website or in person at the juice bar. We will contact you once it is ready for pick-up!   

 

  1. Cheers! Do your best to spread the juice throughout the course of each day and try to finish it all. If you need additional energy, you are welcome to enjoy organic teas like green varieties or yerba mate’.

IS JUICE CLEANSING SAFE?

 

Generally, yes, but be sure to do your research and use your best judgment to cleanse wisely. If you are currently dealing with chronic disease or an autoimmune disorder, we suggest consulting with your primary physician before embarking. 

 

Double-check our ingredient lists to ensure that you are not allergic to anything and consult with someone on our team to confirm that we do not prepare produce on the same space with something you are allergic to. 

 

We do not recommend cleansing if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.  

 

HOW IS YOUR CLEANSE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CLEANSES? 

 

Our juices are incredibly fresh and always squeezed within one day of when you will pick up your cleanse. All of our juices are made using a cold-pressed juice machine, which means that we extract every last drop of nutrient-rich liquid gold! We never use any preservatives. 

 

You will also notice that we store our juice in glass jars to extend shelf life and to eliminate chemical exposure that happens when stored in plastic and to reduce our carbon footprint on the earth. If you return the jars when you’re done you get a small discount on your next purchase!

WHEN SHOULD I DO A JUICE CLEANSE? 

 

A juice cleanse will be most effective if seen as a mindful, intentional event so be sure that you give yourself some time before the cleanse to get ready and a few days after to continue easing back into a healthy nutritional diet. This shouldn’t be done during a time when you are extra busy, stressed or rushed! 

 

We also recommend avoiding major events during cleansing times like weddings, vacations, holidays when you may be consuming alcohol and heavy foods. This could make the experience much more challenging and leave you not getting much out of it. 

 

HOW LONG SHOULD I CLEANSE FOR? 

 

That’s totally up to you! Many people like to start slow with a 24-hour juice cleanse to get their feet wet, while others want to detox further and will plan to go for 3-5 days. Should you decide to cleanse for 5-10 days, you are going to achieve stepping back and seeing your food consumption routines in a new light, which could help overcome food addictions and poor nourishment habits. 

 

Example Cleanse Routines: 

  • 24-hour cleanse once per week 
  • 3-day cleanse once per month 
  • 5-7 day cleanse every 3 months 
  • 10-day cleanse once or twice per year 

 

These are all simply suggestions, we believe that everyone is different, and ultimately, you will figure out what works best for your body and lifestyle to achieve success! 

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS THAT I CAN EXPECT? 

 

The first few days can be the most challenging as many people report experiencing headaches, fatigue, skin blemishes, and are all common symptoms of detoxification and should not cause concern. Your body is going to slowly but surely, move out the sludge and begin absorbing nutrients from the fresh juice more efficiently, so let it do its job - your body is really smart! 

 

Once you get over the detox hump, you are sure to enjoy healthier-looking skin, clear eyes, mental focus and clarity, more efficient digestion, healthier moods, and potential weight management support.    

 

CAN I WORKOUT WHILE CLEANSING? 

 

You can certainly continue moving and staying active, we just suggest to take it easy and not overdo it. Especially if you are new to juice cleansing and are doing more than 3 days. Yoga, Pilates, stretching, light to moderate cardio are all excellent for support lymphatic drainage during the cleanse and are recommended. We do not suggest intense exercise like heavy weight lifting or intense cardio as you can deplete your body too much and cause injury or undesirable symptoms. 

 

Whatever exercise you choose during your cleanse, utilize your sweeter juices immediately after to help stabilize blood sugar levels, and promote energy. 

 

DO I KEEP TAKING MY SUPPLEMENTS WHILE CLEANSING? 

 

Most supplements are best taken with food, so we suggest just focusing on drinking all of your vitamin and mineral-packed juices and letting them feed and fuel your body for the allotted time. If you do supplement, be sure that they are whole food-based ingredients like our organic elderberry syrups and wellness tonic products. 

 

DO I NEED TO PREPARE? 

 

While it is not REQUIRED that you do anything to prepare for a cleanse you will get more out of it if you jump-start the process by eating clean in the days leading up to it. Potentially harmful substances like processed sugar, excess caffeine, alcohol, and cigarettes will only add toxins that the cleanse is trying to remove. Cutting back on those before a cleanse will only make the cleanse more beneficial.  

 

IS CLEANSING FOR EVERYONE? 

 

We do not recommend cleansing for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals. We do not recommend cleansing to anyone under 17 years old. We do not recommend cleansing to anyone with chronic disease or autoimmune disorder without consulting with a medical physician first. 

 

WHAT IF I FEEL LIKE I NEED A SNACK DURING MY CLEASE - WHAT CAN I EAT? 

 

You should have enough juice to help keep you full during your cleanse, but if you must eat, know that it will slow the cleansing process. If you eat, stick to fruits, veggies or nuts and seeds. You can also drink fresh nut milk for some extra fat to help satiate your body and curb any cravings you may be having. 

 

WHAT IF I CAN’T FINISH ALL OF MY JUICES FOR THE DAY? 

 

Not a problem! Save it to enjoy later. Radiant Mama juices stay fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days. 

 

WHAT IF I EXPERIENCE REALLY LOW ENERGY DURING THE CLEANSE? 

 

Some people will experience low energy while on a cleanse. This is more common on a multi-day cleanse. This is an effect of the organ working very hard to adjust and to heal themselves. Try lying down for 20 minutes. If you do need to add stimulants for a boost of energy then reach for a green tea rather than coffee. We do not suggest coffee during your cleanse as it is acidic and juices are alkalinizing meaning they help oxygenate your cells and blood and acidic foods and drinks will slow down this process. 

 

We do suggest supplementing in a few of our products during your cleanse to help out in the energy and stress relief department - Calm Energy Elixir and Elderberry Herbal tea contain natural herbs that can promote strong adrenal glands, mental energy and can help you adapt to the stress that may be experienced during a juice cleanse. 

 

If extreme fatigue is something you are dealing with past days 3 and 4, you may consider helping your colon out by trying an enema or colonic to help remove any toxic waste trying to leave the body.
